Side Impact Sensor - C-Pillar: Removal
WARNING:
If a vehicle has been in a crash, inspect the restraints control module (RCM) and the impact sensor (if equipped) mounting areas for deformation. If damaged, restore the mounting areas to the original production configuration. A new RCM and sensors must be installed whether or not the airbags have deployed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE:
The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module fuse is removed and the ignition is on.
NOTE:
The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
- 1.
Depower the SRS. Refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering - With Intelligent Access (IA) or Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering - Without Intelligent Access (IA) .
- 2.
Position the second row seat on the side of the affected side impact sensor to the easy entry position.
- 4.
Push the third row seat load floor support rearward and slightly lift the load floor to disengage.- For a manual third row seat, separate the load floor support on the side of the affected side impact sensor and fold the load floor flapper panel back on top of the seat.
- For a power third row seat, separate both load floor supports and fold the load floor flapper panels back on top of the seat.
NOTE: If equipped with a power seat, do not lift the load floor flapper panels too far or damage to the wire harness retainers will occur.
