Functional Test - Safety Belt Retractor, ALR Mode, Inflatable Safety Belt

NOTE: The inflatable shoulder belt retractor is not an ALR. Only the lap belt retractor is an ALR.

  1. 1.

    Fasten the safety belt.

  1. 2.

    Pull out the lap belt webbing until the ALR feature is activated.

  1. 3.

    Allow the safety belt webbing to retract until it stops.

  1. 4.

    Pull on the safety belt webbing to check that the safety belt lap belt retractor has remained in the ALR mode. If the safety belt lap belt retractor is not locked, install a new safety belt lap belt retractor.

  1. 5.

    Unfasten the safety belt and allow the safety belt webbing to retract to its stowed position.

  1. 6.

    Pull out and retract the safety belt lap belt webbing to verify the safety belt lap belt retractor has converted automatically out of ALR mode. If the safety belt lap belt retractor remains locked in the ALR mode, install a new safety belt lap belt retractor.
