Safety Belt Buckle - 2nd Row, 40 Percent Seat, with Inflatable Safety Belts: Removal

NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

  1. 1.

    WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Ignition must remain OFF until repair is complete. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

    Turn the ignition off and wait at least one minute.

  1. 2.

    Position the seat to the easy entry position.

  1. 3.

    From under the seat, detach the cushion cover rear lower retainer.

  1. 4.

    Remove 5 screws and the seat track inboard inner and outer covers.

  1. 5.

    From under the seat, detach the cushion cover inboard retainers trapped between the cushion frame and seat track/riser.

  1. 6.

    Remove the safety belt buckle bolt and leave the safety belt buckle in place.
    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  1. 7.

    Remove the safety belt inflator bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 3.5 Nm (31 lb-in).

  1. 8.

    Position the seat to the sitting position.

  1. 9.

    Lift the cushion cover and foam pad at the rear inboard side.
    NOTE: Note the wire harness routing for installation.

  1. 10.
    While positioning the seat as necessary, detach the pin-type retainer from the inflator bracket, disconnect the safety belt buckle switch electrical connector, route out the wire harness and remove the safety belt buckle.
    • Slide the safety belt inflator tube away enough to route out the safety belt buckle switch electrical connector.
