Safety Belt Retractor - 2nd Row, Outboard, Lap Belt, with Inflatable Safety Belts: Installation

  1. 1.

    Position the safety belt retractor and hand start the 2 bolts.

      Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  1. 2.

    NOTE: To avoid damage to the quarter trim panels, remove any retaining clips from the body and attach them to the quarter trim panels before installing.

    Install the quarter trim panel at the front.

      Feed the safety belt through the quarter trim panel opening.

  1. 3.

    NOTE: To avoid damage to the rear door scuff plate trim panel, remove any retaining clips from the body and attach them to the rear door scuff plate trim panel before installing.

    Install the rear door scuff plate trim panel.

  1. 4.

    NOTE: Before installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants.

    Prepare the lap safety belt for assembly.

    1. 1.

      Position the lower safety belt tongue cover onto the safety belt.

    1. 2.

      Position the bushing into the safety belt web loop.

    1. 3.

      The secondary safety belt web loop must be positioned down.

  1. 5.

    NOTE: Refer to the explode view for assembly details.

    Assemble the lap belt to the safety belt tongue.

    1. 1.

      Position the safety belt web loop and bushing to the safety belt tongue.

    1. 2.

      Push down on the lap belt and spring clip.

    1. 3.

      Insert the pin.

  1. 6.

    Make sure the pin is pushed all the way in and the spring clip is allowed to ride up on the shoulder of the pin.

  1. 7.

    Slide the upper safety belt tongue cover on.

  1. 8.

    Engage the lower safety belt tongue cover to the safety belt tongue retainers.

  1. 9.

    NOTE: If the pin is not pushed all the way in the lower safety belt tongue cover will not close correctly.

    Push the lower safety belt tongue cover to each side and engage the retainers.

  1. 10.

    Attach the load floor flapper panel to the load floor support.

  1. 11.

    Reposition the second and third row seats.

  1. 12.

    Check the active restraint system for correct operation. Refer to Safety Belt System .
