PINPOINT TEST G : Auxiliary Climate Control System Functional Test
- G1 CHECK FOR HVAC MODULE DTCs
- Using a scan tool, perform HVAC module self-test.
Are any HVAC DTCs present?
Yes For EATC system, REFER to Climate Control - EMTC . For DAMB system, REFER to Climate Control - DATC . No GO to G2. - G2 CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR OPERATION FROM THE FRONT AND REAR CONTROLS
- Using the front and rear auxiliary blower motor controls, observe blower motor operation and select each auxiliary blower motor speed.
Does the auxiliary blower motor operate the same from the front and rear controls?
Yes GO to G3. No If the auxiliary blower motor is inoperative from the front controls:
For EMTC systems , if all other auxiliary controls operate correctly using the front controls, INSTALL a new FCIM.FRONT CONTROLS INTERFACE MODULE (FCIM) . If no other auxiliary controls operate from the front controls, INSTALL a new HVAC module. REFER to CLIMATE CONTROL - EMTC , Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Module.
For DAMB systems , if there is no other touch screen concerns in the screen area, INSTALL a new HVAC module. REFER to CLIMATE CONTROL - DATC , Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Module. If there are other touch screen concerns in the screen area, REFER to PINPOINT TEST AI (Premium Plus) or REFER to PINPOINT TEST L (Sony® Sound). - G3 CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR OPERATION
- Using the front and rear auxiliary blower motor controls, observe blower motor operation and select each auxiliary blower motor speed.
Does the auxiliary blower motor operate correctly?
Yes GO to G4. No If the auxiliary blower motor is inoperative, GO to Pinpoint Test A . If the blower motor is always on or not all speeds operate correctly, GO to Pinpoint Test B . - G4 CHECK AUXILIARY TEMPERATURE CONTROL OPERATION FROM THE FRONT AND REAR CONTROLS
- Start the vehicle and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
- With the A/C on.
- Using the front and rear auxiliary controls, change the temperature setting from the coldest to the warmest and back to the coldest.
Does the temperature blend door operate the same between the front and rear controls?
Yes GO to G5. No If the auxiliary temperature blend door is inoperative from the front controls:
For EMTC systems , if all other auxiliary controls operate correctly using the front controls, INSTALL a new FCIM.
For DAMB systems , if there is no other touch screen concerns in the screen area, INSTALL a new HVAC module. (Sony® Sound). - G5 VERIFY AUXILIARY TEMPERATURE CONTROL OPERATION
- With the A/C on.
- Change the temperature setting from the coldest to the warmest and back to the coldest.
Does the temperature blend door operate the same between the front and rear controls?
Yes GO to G6. No If the temperature does not get significantly warmer, Go to Pinpoint Test L for DAMB and Go to Pinpoint Test J for EATC. If the temperature does not get significantly cooler, REFER to Climate Control - DATC . For all others, GO to Pinpoint Test C . - G6 CHECK AUXILIARY MODE DOOR OPERATION FROM THE FRONT AND REAR CONTROLS
- Select the highest auxiliary blower motor setting.
- Using the front and rear auxiliary controls, change the mode setting from panel to floor and back to panel.
Does the auxiliary mode door actuator operate the same from the front and rear controls?
Yes GO to G7. No If the auxiliary mode door actuator is inoperative from the front controls:
For EMTC systems , if all other auxiliary controls operate correctly using the front controls, INSTALL a new FCIM. REFER to FRONT CONTROLS INTERFACE MODULE (FCIM) .
- G7 VERIFY AUXILIARY MODE DOOR OPERATION
- Select the highest auxiliary blower motor setting.
- Change the mode setting from panel to floor and back to panel.
Does the auxiliary airflow change to the floor when floor selected and the headliner when panel selected?
Yes The system is operating normally. No GO to Pinpoint Test D .
