Pinpoint Test U : The Media Hub Is Inoperative Or Does Not Operate Correctly
- U1 REBOOT THE APIM AND VERIFY THE CONCERN IS STILL PRESENT
- Remove any USB devices connected in the media hub.
- Ignition ON.
- Simultaneously press and hold the SEEK UP and POWER buttons on the FCIM for 10 seconds. The touchscreen turns black before the startup sequence begins.
- After the reboot is complete, test the system for normal operation.
Does the system operate correctly?
Yes The system is operating correctly at this time. The cause of the fault was due to a device conflict. No GO to U2. - U2 CHECK THE USB PORT FUNCTIONALITY
- Connect: Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120.
- Using the Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120, attempt to play an audio file using the USB port.
Is the audio output OK for the USB port?
Yes GO to U3. No GO to U5. - U3 CHECK THE Secure Digital (SD) CARD SLOT FUNCTIONALITY
- Using a known good Secure Digital (SD) card, attempt to play an audio file and view images using the Secure Digital (SD) card slot.
Are the audio and image output OK for the Secure Digital (SD) card slot?
Yes GO to U4. No INSTALL a new media hub. Refer to Media Hub . - U4 CHECK THE RCA JACK FUNCTIONALITY
- Using the Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120 and RCA Adapter 105-00121, attempt to play audio content using the RCA jacks.
Is the audio output OK for the RCA jacks?
Yes The media hub is working correctly at this time. INFORM the customer that the concern may be with the media or device being used. No GO to U12. - U5 CHECK THE MEDIA HUB VOLTAGE SUPPLY
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Media Hub C3618 .
- Ignition ON.
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to U8. No GO to U6. - U6 CHECK THE MEDIA HUB VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: APIM.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C3618-1 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to U8. No REPAIR the circuit. - U7 CHECK THE MEDIA HUB VOLTAGE SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
Are the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to U15. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - U8 INSPECT THE USB CABLE INLINE CONNECTION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the USB cable inline connection. Refer to Universal Serial Bus (USB) Cable - Upper and Universal Serial Bus (USB) Cable - Lower .
- Inspect the USB cables, and cable connectors for damage. Remove any debris.
- Connect the USB cable inline connection. Verify the connectors are properly seated and latched.
- Ignition ON.
- Simultaneously press and hold the SEEK UP and POWER buttons on the FCIM for 10 seconds. The touchscreen turns black before the startup sequence begins.
- After the reboot is complete, connect the Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120 to the media hub USB port.
- Using the Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120, attempt to play an audio file using the USB port.
Is the audio output OK for the USB port?
Yes The concern was caused by the USB cable inline connection. The system is operating correctly at this time. No GO to U9. - U9 INSPECT THE USB CABLE CONNECTION AT THE MEDIA HUB
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the USB cable at the media hub. Refer to Media Hub .
- Inspect the USB cable, USB cable connector, and media hub connector port for damage. Remove any debris.
- Connect the USB cable at the media hub. Verify the connector is properly seated and latched.
- Ignition ON.
- Simultaneously press and hold the SEEK UP and POWER buttons on the FCIM for 10 seconds. The touchscreen turns black before the startup sequence begins.
- After the reboot is complete, connect the Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120 to the media hub USB port.
- Using the Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120, attempt to play an audio file using the USB port.
Is the audio output OK for the USB port?
Yes The concern was caused by the USB cable connection at the media hub. The system is operating correctly at this time. No GO to U10. - U10 INSPECT THE USB CABLE CONNECTION AT THE APIM
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the USB cable at the APIM. Refer to Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) .
- Inspect the USB cable, USB cable connector, and APIM connector port for damage. Remove any debris.
- Connect the USB cable at the APIM. Verify the connector is properly seated and latched.
- Ignition ON.
- Simultaneously press and hold the SEEK UP and POWER buttons on the FCIM for 10 seconds. The touchscreen turns black before the startup sequence begins.
- After the reboot is complete, connect the Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120 to the media hub USB port.
- Using the Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120, attempt to play an audio file using the USB port.
Is the audio output OK for the USB port?
Yes The concern was caused by the USB cable connection at the APIM. The system is operating correctly at this time. No GO to U11. - U11 ISOLATE THE USB CABLE
- Install a new USB cable. Refer to Universal Serial Bus (USB) Cable - Upper and Universal Serial Bus (USB) Cable - Lower .
- Connect: Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120.
- Using the Multi-Media Interface Tester 105-00120, attempt to play an audio file using the USB port.
Is the audio output OK for the USB port?
Yes The concern was caused by an inoperative USB cable. The system is operating correctly at this time. No INSTALL a new media hub. Refer to Media Hub . If the concern is still present after media hub replacement, GO to U15. - U12 CHECK THE RCA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Media Hub.
- Disconnect: APIM.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C3618-2 Ground C3618-3 Ground C3618-4 Ground C3618-5 Ground C3618-6 Ground C3618-9 Ground C3618-11 Ground C3618-12 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit in question. No GO to U13. - U13 CHECK THE RCA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to U14. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - U14 CHECK THE RCA CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:

Are the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new media hub. Refer to Media Hub . No REPAIR the circuit in question. - Measure:
- U15 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the APIM connector.
- Repair:
- Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals)
- Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins)
- Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)
- Reconnect the APIM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, Refer to APIM HARDWARE TESTING . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
