PINPOINT TEST P : The LH -RH Turn Signal, High Beam or Fog Lamp Indicator Is Never or Always On

  1. P1 DETERMINE THE FAULT CONDITION

    • Place the headlamp switch in the HIGH BEAM position.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Observe the high beam indicator.

    Does the high beam indicator illuminate? 

    Yes  For the LH or RH turn indicator, GO to  P4.
    No  LEAVE the headlamp switch in the HIGH BEAM position. GO to  P2.
  2. P2 CHECK THE HIGH BEAM HEADLAMPS OPERATION

    • Observe the high beam headlamps.

    Do the high beam headlamps operate correctly? 

    Yes  GO to  P3.
    No  REFER to Exterior Lighting .
  3. P3 CARRY OUT THE IPC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
    • Select the IPC high beam indicator (HIGH_BEAM) PID.
    • Command the high beam indicator on and off. Observe the high beam indicator.

    Does the high beam indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off? 

    Yes  GO to  P8.
    No  Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
  4. P4 CHECK THE LH OR RH TURN SIGNAL LAMPS OPERATION

    • Ignition ON.
    • Operate the LH or RH turn signal. Observe the exterior LH or RH turn signal lamps.

    Do the turn signal lamps operate correctly? 

    Yes  GO to  P5.
    No  REFER to Exterior Lighting .
  5. P5 CARRY OUT THE IPC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL

    • Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
    • Select the IPC LH or RH turn signal indicator (RH_TURN_L) or (LH_TURN_L) PID. Command the LH or RH turn signal indicator on and off. Observe the LH or RH turn signal indicator.

    Does the LH or RH turn signal indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off? 

    Yes  GO to  P8.
    No  Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
  6. P6 CHECK THE FOG LAMPS OPERATION

    • Operate the fog lamps.

    Do the fog lamps operate correctly? 

    Yes  GO to  P7.
    No  REFER to Exterior Lighting .
  7. P7 CARRY OUT THE IPC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
    • Select the IPC high beam indicator (F_FOG_IND) PID.
    • Command the fog lamp indicator on and off. Observe the fog lamp indicator.

    Does the fog lamp indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off? 

    Yes  GO to  P8.
    No  Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
  8. P8 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST

    • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules .
    No  GO to  P9.
  9. P9 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST

    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Is DTC U0140:00 recorded? 

    Yes  GO to Pinpoint Test AV .
    No  INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules .
