PINPOINT TEST AK : The Chime Sounds When The Driver Door Is Ajar (No Key In Ignition And Headlamps Off)
- AK1 CHECK THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
- Close all doors.
- Wait one minute.
- Observe the exterior lights.
Are the headlamps and parking lamps off?
Yes GO to AK2. No REFER to Exterior Lighting . - AK2 CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
- Open and close the driver door.
- Observe the interior lamps.
Do the interior lamps operate correctly from the driver door?
Yes GO to AK3. No REFER to Interior Lighting . - AK3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any DTCs present?
Yes For DTC B10F1:14, GO to AK4. For all other DTCs, REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules . No GO to AK4. - AK4 CHECK THE BCM INPUT PIDs FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH
- Using a scan tool, view the BCM PIDs.
- Select and monitor the BCM ignition switch PIDs (IGN_ACC/RUN), (IGN_RUN/STRT) and (IGN_SW_STATE) while cycling the ignition switch through ACC, OFF, RUN and START states.
Do the BCM PIDs match the ignition switch position?
Yes GO to AK5. No REFER to Steering Column Switches to diagnose the ignition switch outputs to the BCM. - AK5 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION INPUT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the key from the ignition cylinder.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280B .
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280B-34 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes GO to AK6. No GO to AK7. - AK6 CHECK KEY-IN-IGNITION INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280B-34 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Steering Column Switches . - AK7 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
