Fog Lamps
Overview
The fog lamp system consists of:
- Fog lamps
- Headlamp switch (integrated into the FLM)
- BCM
The fog lamps can be turned on when the ignition is in RUN or ACCESSORY, the parking lamps are on, and the high beams are off.
The fog lamp switch is integrated into the FLM.

System Diagram
Network Message Chart BCM Network Message Chart
| Broadcast Message | Originating Module | Message Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Headlamp switch status | FLM | Indicates the headlamp switch position to the BCM. When the position indicates FOG LAMPS ON and the parking lamps are on (either from manual control of the headlamp switch or the autolamp system), the BCM provides voltage to the front fog lamps. |
| High beam_flash-to-pass request | SCCM | Indicates to the BCM a request for the high beams or flash-to-pass. When either are active, the front fog lamps are off. |
Fog Lamps
The FLM monitors the fog lamp switch and sends a headlamp switch status message over the communication network to the BCM to indicate the fog lamp request.
When the BCM receives an input from the FLM indicating a request for the fog lamps, the BCM provides ground to the fog lamp relay (integrated into the BCM). When the fog lamp relay is energized, voltage is routed to the fog lamps.
