PINPOINT TEST D : The Low Beams Are On Continuously
- D1 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the FLM network test.
Does the FLM pass the network test?
Yes GO to D2. No REFER to Module Communications Network , Symptom Chart: Communication Network. - D2 CHECK FOR LIGHT SENSOR DTCs
- Review the DTCs recorded from the BCM self-test.
Is DTC B1A85:11 or DTC B1A85:13 present?
Yes GO to Pinpoint Test L . No GO to D3. - D3 CHECK THE FLM HEADLAMP SWITCH PID
- Using a scan tool, view FLM PIDs.
- Using a scan tool, monitor the FLM LT_SW PID while moving the headlamp switch through all positions.
Do the headlamp switch positions agree with the PID ?
Yes GO to D4. No INSTALL a new FLM. Refer to Front Lighting Control Module (FLM) . - D4 CHECK THE BCM OUTPUT
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280E.
- Ignition ON.
Does the left or right headlamp continue to illuminate?
Yes For vehicles with halogen headlamps, REPAIR the BCM low beam output circuit in question for a short to voltage. For vehicles with HID headlamps, GO to D5. No GO to D6. - D5 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Illuminated Headlamp.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead Headlamp-Left C1284A-1 Ground Headlamp-Right C1285A-1 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the BCM low beam output circuit in question for a short to voltage. No REPAIR or install a new headlamp assembly. Refer to Headlamp Assembly . - D6 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - Without Intelligent Access or REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - With Intelligent Access . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
