PINPOINT TEST P : A Single Power Window is Inoperative - Rear, XLT or Limited
- P1 CHECK THE SUSPECT REAR POWER WINDOW OPERATION FROM LH FRONT CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition ON.
- Attempt to operate the suspect rear window from the LH front window control switch.
Does the rear window operate when using the LH front window control switch?
Yes GO to P2. No GO to P3. - P2 CHECK THE FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH LOCK-OUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (LH) C701-5 , (RH) C801-5 Ground
NOTE: Make sure the LH window control switch lockout switch is in the UNLOCK position.Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes INSTALL a new rear window control switch. Refer to Window Control Switch . No REPAIR the circuit. - P3 CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to P4. No REPAIR the circuit. - P4 CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (LH) C701-3 , (RH) C801-3 Ground (LH) C701-3 , (RH) C801-3 Ground
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to P5. No REPAIR the circuit. - P5 CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH FOR VOLTAGE SIGNAL FROM THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition ON.
- For LH rear window, while pressing and releasing the LH front window control switch, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (UP) C701-6 Ground (DOWN) C701-7 Ground
- For RH rear window, while pressing and releasing the LH front window control switch, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (UP) C801-6 Ground (DOWN) C801-7 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the LH front window control switch is pressed; and 0 volt when released?
Yes GO to P8. No If voltage was less than 11 volts when the switch was pressed, GO to P6. If voltage was greater than 0 volt when the switch was released, GO to P7. - P6 CHECK FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504 .
- For LH rear window, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C701-6 C504-15 C701-7 C504-16
- For RH rear window, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C801-6 C504-14 C801-7 C504-13
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. Refer to Window Control Switch . No REPAIR the affected circuit. - P7 CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH FOR VOLTAGE SIGNAL FROM THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504 .
- Ignition ON.
- For LH rear window, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (UP) C701-6 Ground (DOWN) C701-7 Ground
- For RH rear window, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (UP) C801-6 Ground (DOWN) C801-7 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the affected circuit. No INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. Refer to Window Control Switch . - P8 CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- To check upward window operation, connect fused jumper wires:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (LH) C701-1 , (RH) C801-1 (LH) C701-4 , (RH) C801-4 (LH) C701-8 , (RH) C801-8 (LH) C701-3 , (RH) C801-3
- To check downward window operation, connect fused jumper wires:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (LH) C701-1 , (RH) C801-1 (LH) C701-8 , (RH) C801-8 (LH) C701-4 , (RH) C801-4 (LH) C701-3 , (RH) C801-3
Does the rear window move up and/or down?
Yes INSTALL a new rear window control switch. Refer to Window Control Switch . No GO to P9. - P9 CHECK FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND WINDOW MOTOR
- Measure
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (LH) C701-8 , (RH) C801-8 (LH) C703-2 , (RH) C803-2 (LH) C701-4 , (RH) C801-4 (LH) C703-1 , (RH) C803-1
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new rear window motor. Refer to Window Regulator Motor - Rear Door . No REPAIR the affected circuit. - Measure
