PINPOINT TEST F : One Or More Interior Courtesy Lamps Are Inoperative

  1. F1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF ALL THE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMPS

    • Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch for 3 seconds.

    Are all the interior courtesy lamps inoperative? 

    Yes  VERIFY the BCM fuse 12 (15A) is OK. If OK, GO to  F4.
    No  GO to  F2.
  2. F2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE COURTESY LAMP

    • Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch to turn the interior courtesy lamps off.
    • Disconnect: Inoperative Interior Lamp.
    • Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch for 3 seconds.
    • For a front interior lamp (overhead console), measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • For a rear interior lamp (with roof opening panel), measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • For a rear interior lamp (without roof opening panel) or cargo lamp, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  F3.
    No  REPAIR the courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit for an open.
  3. F3 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • For a front interior lamp (overhead console), measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • For a rear interior lamp (with roof opening panel), measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • For a rear interior lamp (without roof opening panel) or cargo lamp, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new interior lamp for the lamp in question. Refer to Interior Lamp - First Row , Refer to Interior Lamp - Second Row With Moon Roof  or Refer to Interior Lamp - Second Row Without Moon Roof, Third Row .
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  4. F4 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE DEMAND LAMPS

    • Activate the map lamp function from all of the interior lamps.

    Do the map lamps illuminate? 

    Yes  GO to  F5.
    No  REPAIR the interior lamp ground circuit for an open.
  5. NOTE: If the jumper wire fails, refer to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.

  6. F5 BYPASS THE BCM
    • Turn the map lamps off.
    • Disconnect: BCM C2280A.
    • Connect:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? 

    Yes  REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to  F6.
    No  REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit for an open.
  7. F6 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION

    • Disconnect the BCM connectors.
    • Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    • Reconnect the BCM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - Without Intelligent Access or REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - With Intelligent Access .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. CLEAR the DTCs.
