Pinpoint Test E : U0140:87
- E1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes GO to E2. No The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - E2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the BCM pass the network test?
Yes GO to E3. No Go to Pinpoint Test I - E3 RECHECK THE TPM MODULE DTCs
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the TPM module DTCs.
NOTE: The TPM module is also known as the Radio Transceiver Module (RTM).- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Repeat the TPM module self-test.
Is DTC U0140:87 present?
Yes GO to E4. No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - E4 CHECK FOR DTC U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES.
- Clear continuous DTCs from all modules.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
Is DTC U0140:00 set in the ABS module or the APIM ?
Yes INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - With Intelligent Access (IA) or REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - Without Intelligent Access (IA). No INSTALL a new TPM module. REFER to Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Module .
