Torque Converter Clutch

Condition	Possible Sources	Action
TCC does not apply	Solenoid body filter blocked to the TCC solenoid	INSTALL a new solenoid body filter. REFER to Solenoid Body Assembly .
TCC solenoid mechanically stuck OFF		INSTALL a new solenoid body. REFER to Solenoid Body Assembly .
TCC regulator apply valve stuck OFF		DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC regulator apply valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to Main Control - Overhaul .
TCC control valve stuck OFF		DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the TCC control valve for debris/blockage. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to Main Control - Overhaul .
TCC APPLY hydraulic circuit blocked or leaking		DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the transmission, main control passages for debris/blockage. REFER to Main Control - Overhaul and CLEAN as necessary. REFER to Hydraulic System .
TCC friction material worn or damaged		INSTALL a new torque converter. REFER to Transmission - Front Wheel Drive (FWD) , Transmission - All Wheel Drive (AWD) or Transmission - 3.5L GTDI Transmission - All Wheel Drive (AWD) .
TCC always applied/stalls vehicle	TCC solenoid mechanically stuck ON	INSTALL a new solenoid body. REFER to Solenoid Body Assembly .
TCC regulator apply valve stuck ON		DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC regulator apply valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to Main Control - Overhaul .
TCC control valve stuck ON		DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC control valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to Main Control - Overhaul .
TCC RELEASE hydraulic circuit blocked or leaking		DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control and INSPECT passages for debris/blockage. REFER to Main Control - Overhaul and CLEAN as necessary. REFER to Hydraulic System .
TCC welded or damaged		INSTALL a new torque converter. REFER to Transmission - Front Wheel Drive (FWD) , Transmission - All Wheel Drive (AWD) or Transmission - 3.5L GTDI Transmission - All Wheel Drive (AWD) .
TCC cycles, shudders or chatters	Incorrect Solenoid Body Strategy programmed into TCM	REFER to Solenoid Body Strategy Download .
Solenoid filter or seal damaged at TCC solenoid		INSTALL a new solenoid body or filter. REFER to Solenoid Body Assembly .
TCC solenoid mechanically sticking		INSTALL a new solenoid body. REFER to Solenoid Body Assembly .
TCC regulator apply valve, springs, clips - loose, stuck, binding, missing, incorrectly assembled		DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC regulator apply valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to Main Control - Overhaul .
TCC control valve, springs, clips - loose, stuck, binding, missing, incorrectly assembled		DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control for debris/blockage. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to Main Control - Overhaul .
TCC RELEASE/TCC APPLY hydraulic circuits blocked or leaking		DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the transmission, main control for debris/blockage. REFER to Main Control - Overhaul and CLEAN as necessary. REFER to Hydraulic System .
