Transmission - 3.5L GTDI: Removal

   With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Jacking and Lifting .

   Remove the battery and battery tray. REFER to Battery, Mounting and Cables .

1. 3.
   
   Remove the ACL outlet pipe. REFER to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering .

1. 4.
   
   Remove the cowl panel grille. REFER to Front End Body Panels .

NOTE: Do not loosen the center bolt or damage to the transmission support insulator will occur.

   Remove the 2 upper transmission support insulator bolts.

   Remove the front subframe. REFER to Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System .

   Remove the roll restrictors. Refer to Transmission Support Insulator - Anti-Roll, 3.5L GTDI .

   Drain the transmission fluid.
   • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

NOTE: Do not allow the halfshaft to over angel or hang from the outer CV joint. Always support the free end of the halfshaft or damage can occur.

   Remove and position aside the LH Halfshaft.

   Remove the PTU. REFER to Transfer Case Power Transfer Unit (PTU) .

      Inspect the differential seal surface.

      Inspect the halfshaft bushing surface. If this surface is damaged, inspect the halfshaft bushing for damage.

      Inspect the differential side gear splines.
