Transmission Range (TR) Sensor: Removal

  1. 1.

    With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Jacking and Lifting .

  1. 2.

    Remove the main control valve body. REFER to Main Control Valve Body .

  1. 3.

    Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the manual control lever.

    Remove the manual control lever.

  1. 5.

    Using the special tool, remove and discard the TR sensor retaining pin. Special tool(s): Remover, TRS Retaining Pin 307-696.

    NOTE: Do not allow the park pawl actuator rod to slide out of the transmission case too far or it can become disengaged from the park pawl. Transmission removal and disassembly is required to install the park pawl actuator rod on the park pawl.

  1. 6.
    Remove the TR sensor.

    1. 1.

      Slide the TR sensor down until the manual shaft is out of the transmission case.

    1. 2.

      Rotate the TR sensor detent plate counterclockwise, as viewed from below until the plate rests against the transmission case, remove the park pawl actuating rod from the TR sensor and remove the TR sensor.
