Diagnostic Overview 

Diagnostics in this article assume a certain skill level and knowledge of Ford-specific diagnostic practices. Refer to Diagnostic Methods in Service Information for information about these practices.

Refer to Transmission Controls-6F35 for schematic and connector information.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

The TSS sensor is a Hall-effect sensor that sends a signal to the PCM that indicates transmission turbine shaft input speed. The TSS sensor provides converter turbine speed information for TCC strategy.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

DTC  Description  Fault Trigger Conditions 
P0715 Turbine/Input Shaft Speed Sensor "A" Circuit No input from TSS sensor.
P0717 Turbine/Input Shaft Speed Sensor "A" Circuit No Signal No input from TSS sensor.
P0718 Turbine/Input Shaft Speed Sensor "A" Circuit Intermittent Unrealistic change in TSS sensor signal, erratic or intermittently no input.
