Steering Gear Boot: Installation
- Apply the specified grease to the steering gear-to-boot mating surface and boot groove of the inner tie rod.
- Using boot clamp pliers. Install the new steering gear boot and new clamps.
- Thread the tie rod end jam nut onto the tie rod.
- Install the underbody shield and the retainers.
- Install the underbody air duct and the retainers.
- Install the skid plate and the retainers.
- Install the tie-rod end.

- Attach the outer tie rod end to the wheel knuckle.
- Install the new outer tie rod end nut.
- Tighten to 150 N.m (111 lb-ft).
- Tighten the tie rod end jam nut.
- Tighten to 63 N.m (46 lb ft).
