PINPOINT TEST A : The Spotlamp Is Inoperative Or Always On

  1. A1 DETERMINE IF THE SPOTLAMP IS ALWAYS ON

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Observe the spotlamp while turning the switch to the ON and OFF positions.

    Is the spotlamp always illuminated? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new spotlamp. REFER to Spotlamp .
    No  GO to  A2.
  2. A2 CHECK THE SPOTLAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Inoperative LH or RH Spotlamp.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      (LH) C3657-2 ; (RH) C3658-2

      Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  INSPECT the spotlamp mounting for a loose or corroded condition. If no condition is found, INSTALL a new spotlamp. REFER to Spotlamp .
    No  VERIFY BJB fuse 81 (20A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.
