Thermostatic Expansion Valve: Removal

All vehicles 

1. 1.
   
   Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .

Vehicles with 3.5L Ti-VCT engine 

1. 2.
   
   Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to ENGINE - 3.5L TI-VCT , Upper Intake Manifold.

Vehicles with 3.5L GTDI engines 

1. 3.
   
   Remove the cowl panel. REFER to Front End Body Panels , Cowl Panel.

1. 4.
   
   Remove the 4 strut tower brace nuts and remove the strut tower brace.
   • To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).

   NOTE: When installing align the index marks for the RH CAC tube.
   • Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

   Remove the auxiliary evaporator outlet and inlet line fitting nuts and position the auxiliary lines aside.
   • To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).
   • Discard the O-ring seals and gasket seals.

   Remove the TXV fitting nut.
   • To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).
   • Discard the O-ring seals and gasket seals.

1. 10.
   
   Remove the TXV bolts.
   • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

1. 11.
   
   Remove the TXV.
   • Discard the O-ring seals.
