PINPOINT TEST F : A No Key Detected Message Is Displayed In The Message Center

  1. F1 CHECK FOR RFA MODULE DTCs

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the RFA module self-test.

    Are any DTCs present? 

    Yes  DIAGNOSE the RFA module DTCs. REFER to RFA Module DTC Chart .
    No  If the concern is still present, GO to  F2. If concern is no longer present, the system is operating normally at this time. The concern may have been caused due to an intermittent fault condition.
  2. F2 CHECK THE RKE TRANSMITTER OPERATION

    • Press the lock and unlock RKE transmitter buttons on an Intelligent Access (IA) key.

    Do the doors lock and unlock? 

    Yes  GO to  F3.
    No  REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems With Intelligent Access (IA) .
  3. F3 CHECK THE Intelligent Access (IA) KEY LOCATION

    • Place the Intelligent Access (IA) key in several locations within the vehicle and attempt to start the vehicle

    Does the vehicle start with the Intelligent Access (IA) key in certain areas only? 

    Yes  GO to Pinpoint Test D .
    No  GO to  F4.
  4. F4 CHECK FOR ENVIRONMENTAL INTERFERENCE

    • Check for the use of any charger or other wireless device that can cause interference with the Intelligent Access (IA) key. If any device is found, remove the device and attempt to start the engine.

    Does the engine start? 

    Yes  INFORM the customer of the cause of the concern and the normal operation of the vehicle.
    No  GO to  F5.
  5. F5 CHECK THE Intelligent Access (IA) KEY BATTERY

    • Place the Intelligent Access (IA) key in the backup slot and press the start/stop switch.

    Is NO KEY DETECTED displayed? 

    Yes  GO to  F6.
    No  INSTALL a new battery. DO NOT reprogram the Intelligent Access (IA) key (damaged or dead batteries do not erase Intelligent Access (IA) keys from memory).
  6. F6 CHECK THE Intelligent Access (IA) KEY PROGRAMMING

    Do the Intelligent Access (IA) keys successfully program? 

    Yes  The concern was caused by an unprogrammed Intelligent Access (IA) key.
    No  DISCARD the key in question and PROGRAM a new Intelligent Access (IA) key. Refer to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment .
