SUMMARY
This article supersedes GSB 20-7016 to update the vehicle model years affected.
Use this document to assist in determining warrantable/non-warrantable decisions regarding grille concerns.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Vehicles should be washed regularly with cool or lukewarm water and a neutral pH shampoo.
Immediately remove fuel spillages, bird droppings, insect deposits and road tar.
Non-warrantable Conditions
- Alteration or modification
- Damage due to chemicals, solvents, or use of non-Ford approved cleaners
- Stone chips, scratches, scuffs, soil marks
- Road salt, tree sap, bird droppings
- Surface rust
BUBBLING RESULTING FROM IMPACT (NON-WARRANTABLE)
An impact has indented the substrate (Figures 1-2)
BUBBLING WITHOUT SUBSTRATE DAMAGE (WARRANTABLE)
No substrate damage felt in the area or on the backside (Figures 3-4)
CRACKS (NON-WARRANTABLE)
In any location, cracks are an indication of flexing or impact (Figure 5)
CRACKS (NON-WARRANTABLE)
CRACKS IN THE SUBSTRATE WILL CAUSE A THIN RAISED LINE (FIGURE 6)
PEELING (WARRANTABLE)
Occurs from an edge or in a recessed area (Figures 7-8)
CRACKED OR MISSING TRIM (NON-WARRANTABLE)
Flexing or impact will cause broken material (Figures 9-10)
STAINING OR DISCOLORING (NON-WARRANTABLE)
Harsh substances/abrasives will etch and damage the surface, often leaving liquid patterns (Figures 11-12)
REMOVED FINISH (NON-WARRANTABLE)
Removed finish with no lifting or peeling indicates damage (Figures 13-14)
MELTED (NON-WARRANTABLE)
Heat damage will melt concentrated areas (Figure 15)
MODIFICATION (NON-WARRANTABLE)
Damage caused by modification (Figure 16)
BROKEN ATTACHMENTS (NON-WARRANTABLE)
Flexing or impact will damage mounts and clips (Figure 17)
