Transmission Outputs

DPS6 has four 3-phase electric motors:

  1. Clutch A motor - controls clutch A torque capacity. The Clutch A system is tested for:
    1. ATIC faults (P0805) - the ATIC is an internal TCM component that controls motor current.
    2. Hall sensor faults (P0806) - each phase has a hall sensor that provides motor position information
    3. Sequence faults (P0809) - as the motor rotates it generates an defined pattern from the 3 hall sensors, if the sequence of hall sensor patterns is off this code sets.
    4. Open circuit (P0900)
    5. Short to ground (P0902)
    6. Short to power (P0903)
    7. Clutch functionally stuck off (P07A2)
    8. Clutch functionally stuck on (P07A3)
  2. Clutch B motor - controls clutch B torque capacity. The Clutch B system is tested for:
    1. ATIC faults (P087A) - the ATIC is an internal TCM component that controls motor current.
    2. Hall sensor faults (P087B) - each phase has a hall sensor that provides motor position information
    3. Sequence faults (P087E) - as the motor rotates it generates an defined pattern from the 3 hall sensors, if the sequence of hall sensor patterns is off this code sets.
    4. Open circuit (P090A)
    5. Short to ground (P090C)
    6. Short to power (P090D)
    7. Clutch functionally stuck off (P07A4)
    8. Clutch functionally stuck on (P07A5)
  3. Shift drum A motor - controls the shift forks that engage 1st, 3rd and 5th gear. The system is tested for:
    1. ATIC faults (P2831) - the ATIC is an internal TCM component that controls motor current.
    2. Sequence faults (P2835) - as the motor rotates it generates an defined pattern from the 3 hall sensors, if the sequence of hall sensor patterns is off this code sets.
    3. Open circuit (P285B)
    4. Short to ground (P285D)
    5. Short to power (P285E)
    6. Stuck in gear (P072C, P072E, P073A)
    7. Position error (P2832) - includes blocked motor, or any failure that results in the TCM losing confidence in the relative position of the shift drum.
  4. Shift drum A motor - controls the shift forks that engage 1st, 3rd and 5th gear. The system is tested for:
    1. ATIC faults (P2836) - the ATIC is an internal TCM component that controls motor current.
    2. Sequence faults (P283A) - as the motor rotates it generates an defined pattern from the 3 hall sensors, if the sequence of hall sensor patterns is off this code sets.
    3. Open circuit (P285F)
    4. Short to ground (P2861)
    5. Short to power (P2862)
    6. Stuck in gear (P072B, P072D, P072F, P073B)
    7. Position error (P2837) - includes blocked motor, or any failure that results in the TCM losing confidence in the relative position of the shift drum.
