PINPOINT TEST N : A Single Power Window is Inoperative - RH Front, XLT or Limited
- N1 CHECK THE RH FRONT WINDOW OPERATION FROM THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition ON.
- Operate the RH front window from the LH front window control switch.
Does the RH front window operate from the LH front window control switch?
Yes GO to N9. No GO to N2. - N2 CHECK THE POWER TO THE WINDOW MOTOR
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RH Front Window Motor C646 .
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C646-1 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to N3. No VERIFY BCM fuse 3 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . - N3 CHECK THE RH FRONT WINDOW MOTOR DELAYED ACCESSORY FEED
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C646-3 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to N4. No VERIFY BCM fuse 32 (15A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . - N4 CHECK THE RH FRONT WINDOW MOTOR GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C646-2 Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to N5. No REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . - N5 CHECK THE VOLTAGE SIGNAL FROM THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition ON.
- While pressing and releasing the LH front window control switch, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead (UP) C646-4 Ground (DOWN) C646-5 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the LH front window control switch is pressed; and 0 volt when the switch is released?
Yes INSTALL a new RH front window regulator motor. Refer to Window Regulator Motor - Front Door . INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . No If voltage was less than 11 volts when the switch was pressed, GO to N6. If voltage was greater than 0 volt when the switch was released, GO to N7. - N6 CHECK FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND THE WINDOW MOTOR
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504 .
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. Refer to Window Control Switch . INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . No REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . TEST the system for normal operation. - N7 CHECK THE WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE WITH THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH DISCONNECTED
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504 .
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes GO to N8. No INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. Refer to Window Control Switch . INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . - N8 CHECK THE WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE WITH THE RH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH DISCONNECTED
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RH Front Window Control Switch C648 .
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the affected circuit. INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . No INSTALL a new RH front window control switch. Refer to Window Control Switch . INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . - N9 CHECK THE POWER TO THE RH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RH Front Window Control Switch C648 .
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C648-6 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to N10. No REPAIR the circuit. - N10 CHECK FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND THE WINDOW MOTOR
- Ignition OFF.
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new RH front window control switch. Refer to Window Control Switch . INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization . No REPAIR the affected circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to Window Motor Initialization .
