PINPOINT TEST M : The ABS Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On

  1. M1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST

    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  For DTC U0121:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AU . For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    No  GO to  M2.
  2. M2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE ABS MODULE SELF-TEST

    • Using a scan tool, perform the ABS module self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control .
    No  GO to  M3.
  3. M3 CARRY OUT THE IPC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
    • Select the IPC ABS warning indicator PID (ABS_LAMP). Command the ABS warning indicator on then off. Observe the ABS warning indicator.

    Does the ABS warning indicator turn illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off? 

    Yes  If the ABS warning indicator is always on, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control . If the ABS warning indicator is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time.
    No  Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
