PINPOINT TEST Q : The TPMS Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On

  1. Q1 CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE

    • Verify the tire pressure in all tires meets the recommended tire pressures on the VC label. Refer to Identification Codes .

    Do all the tires meet the recommended tire pressures? 

    Yes  GO to  Q2.
    No  CORRECT the tire pressures.
  2. Q2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM IPC SELF-TEST

    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  For DTC U0140:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AV . For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    No  GO to  Q3.
  3. Q3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST

    • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules .
    No  GO to  Q4.
  4. NOTE: The Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) is also known as the Radio Transmitter Module (RTM).

  5. Q4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE TPM MODULE SELF-TEST
    • Using a scan tool, perform the TPM module self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) .
    No  GO to  Q5.
  6. Q5 CARRY OUT THE IPC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
    • Select the IPC TPMS warning indicator PID (TPMWARN_LMP). Command TPMS warning indicator on and off. Observe the TPMS warning indicator.

    Does the TPMS warning indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off? 

    Yes  If the TPMS warning indicator is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time. If the TPMS warning indicator is always on, REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) .
    No  Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
