PINPOINT TEST R : The Air Bag Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On
- R1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE RCM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the RCM self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded?
Yes REFER to Supplemental Restraint System . No GO to R2. - R2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded?
Yes For DTC U0151:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AW . For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Chart: IPC . No GO to R3. - R3 CARRY OUT THE IPC RESTRAINTS OUTPUT CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
- Select the IPC (AIRBAG_LMP) PID. Command the air bag warning indicator on and off. Observe the air bag warning indicator.
Does the air bag warning indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?
Yes If the air bag warning indicator is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time. If the air bag warning indicator is always on, INSTALL a new RCM. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System . No Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
