PINPOINT TEST B : The Power Seat Does Not Move Horizontally, Vertically or Recline - Driver, With Power Recline

  1. B1 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

      WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051 .
    • Operate the driver seat forward and rearward.

    Does the seat move horizontally? 

    Yes  GO to  B2.
    No  GO to  B3.
  2. B2 CHECK THE RECLINER MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

    • Recline the driver backrest forward and rearward.

    Does the seat backrest recline forward and rearward? 

    Yes  GO to  B6.
    No  GO to  B13.
  3. B3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL MOTOR

    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Horizontal Motor C362 .
      NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
    • While pushing the driver seat control switch forward and rearward, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new front seat track motor. Refer to Seat Track Motor - Front . GO to  B16.
    No  GO to  B4.
  4. B4 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C369 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  B5.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  B16.
  5. B5 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  B16.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  B16.
  6. B6 DETERMINE THE SEAT HEIGHT ADJUST FAILURE

    • Operate the seat front and rear height adjustments.

    Does the seat front and rear height adjust up and down? 

    Yes  If only the front height adjust motor operates, GO to  B7. If only the rear height adjust motor operates, GO to  B10.
    No  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  B16.
  7. B7 CHECK VOLTAGE TO THE REAR HEIGHT MOTOR

    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Rear Height Motor C363 .
      NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
    • While pressing the rear height adjust switch up and down, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat track assembly. Refer to Seat Track . GO to  B16.
    No  GO to  B8.
  8. B8 CHECK THE REAR SEAT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C369 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  B9.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  B16.
  9. B9 CHECK THE REAR SEAT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  B16.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  B16.
  10. B10 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE DRIVER SEAT FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR

    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Front Height Motor C382 .
      NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
    • While pressing the front height adjust switch up and down, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat track assembly. Refer to Seat Track . GO to  B16.
    No  GO to  B11.
  11. B11 CHECK THE FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C369 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  B12.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  B16.
  12. B12 CHECK THE FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  B16.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  B16.
  13. B13 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE DRIVER SEAT RECLINER MOTOR

    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Recliner Motor C3187 .
      NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
    • While pushing the recline switch forward and rearward, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated in both directions and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat recliner motor. Refer to Seat Recliner Motor . GO to  B16.
    No  GO to  B14.
  14. B14 CHECK THE RECLINER MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C369 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  B15.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  B16.
  15. B15 CHECK THE RECLINER MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  B16.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  B16.
  16. B16 CHECK FOR SRS DTCs

      WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
    • Ignition OFF.

    • Connect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051 .
    • Connect: All previously disconnected electrical connectors.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the RCM DTCs.
    • Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform RCM self-test.

    Are any RCM DTCs retrieved during self-test? 

    Yes  REFER to Supplemental Restraint System for pinpoint test direction.
    No  The repair is complete. RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
