PINPOINT TEST G : The Power Seat Does Not Move Horizontally, Vertically or Recline - Passenger, with Power Recline

  1. G1 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

      WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339 .
    • Operate the passenger seat forward and rearward.

    Does the seat move horizontally? 

    Yes  GO to  G2.
    No  GO to  G3.
  2. G2 CHECK THE RECLINER MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

    • Recline the passenger backrest forward and rearward.

    Does the seat backrest recline forward and rearward? 

    Yes  GO to  G6.
    No  GO to  G13.
  3. G3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE PASSENGER SEAT HORIZONTAL MOTOR

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Horizontal Motor C332 .
      NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
    • While pushing the passenger seat control switch forward and rearward, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new front seat track motor. Refer to Seat Track Motor - Front . GO to  G16.
    No  GO to  G4.
  4. G4 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Control Switch C330 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G5.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  G16.
  5. G5 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  G16.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  G16.
  6. G6 DETERMINE THE SEAT HEIGHT ADJUST FAILURE

    • Operate the seat front and rear height adjustments.

    Does the seat front and rear height adjust up and down? 

    Yes  If only the front height adjust motor operates, GO to  G7. If only the rear height adjust motor operates, GO to  G10.
    No  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  G16.
  7. G7 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE PASSENGER SEAT REAR HEIGHT MOTOR

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Rear Height Motor C3075 .
      NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
    • While pressing the rear height adjust switch up and down, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat track assembly. Refer to Seat Track . GO to  G16.
    No  GO to  G8.
  8. G8 CHECK THE REAR SEAT HEIGHT MOTOR FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Control Switch C330 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G9.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  G16.
  9. G9 CHECK THE REAR SEAT HEIGHT MOTOR FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  G16.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  G16.
  10. G10 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE PASSENGER SEAT FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Front Height Motor C3074 .
      NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
    • While pressing the front height adjust switch up and down, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat track assembly. Refer to Seat Track . GO to  G16.
    No  GO to  G11.
  11. G11 CHECK THE FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Control Switch C330 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G12.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  G16.
  12. G12 CHECK THE FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  G16.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  G16.
  13. G13 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE PASSENGER SEAT RECLINER MOTOR

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Recliner Motor C3189 .
      NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
    • While pushing the recline switch forward and rearward, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat recliner motor. Refer to Seat Recliner Motor . GO to  G16.
    No  GO to  G14.
  14. G14 CHECK THE RECLINER MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Control Switch C330 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G15.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  G16.
  15. G15 CHECK THE RECLINER MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new seat control switch. Refer to Seat Control Switch . GO to  G16.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. GO to  G16.
  16. G16 CHECK FOR SRS DTCs

      WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
    • Ignition OFF.

    • Connect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339 .
    • Connect: All previously disconnected electrical connectors.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the RCM DTCs.
    • Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform RCM self-test.

    Are any RCM DTCs retrieved during self-test? 

    Yes  REFER to Supplemental Restraint System for pinpoint test direction.
    No  The repair is complete. RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
