Pinpoint Test An : U0140
- AN1 VERIFY CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes GO to AN2. No The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. CLEAR all CMDTCs. - AN2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the BCM pass the network test?
Yes GO to AN3. No Refer to article 'Module Communications Network', Go to Pinpoint Test I . - AN3 CHECK FOR DTCs U3003:16 AND U3003:17 FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from the BCM.
Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?
Yes For DTC U3003:16, Refer to article 'Multifunction Electronic Modules', Go to Pinpoint Test H . For DTC U3003:17, Refer to article 'Multifunction Electronic Modules', Go to Pinpoint Test I . No GO to AN4. - AN4 RECHECK THE DSM DTCs
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the DTCs. Repeat the DSM self-test.
NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.Is DTC U0140 still present?
Yes GO to AN5. No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - AN5 CHECK FOR DTC U0140:87 OR DTC U0140 IN OTHER MODULES
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
Is DTC U0140:87 or DTC U0140 set in any other modules?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - Without Intelligent Access or REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - With Intelligent Access No CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new DSM. Refer to Driver Seat Module (DSM) .
