PINPOINT TEST H : Incorrect Speedometer Indication
- H1 CHECK THE TIRE SIZE CONFIGURATION
- The correct tire size can be found on the VC label on the LH B-pillar. VC Codes.
- Using the scan tool, view Module Programming for the programmed tire size.
- Verify that the tire size configuration matches the VC label.
Is the tire size correctly configured?
Yes GO to H2. No CONFIGURE the correct tire size as required. - H2 CHECK THE AXLE RATIO CONFIGURATION
- Using the scan tool, view Module Programming for the programmed axle ratio.
- Verify the axle ratio is correctly configured.
Is the axle ratio correctly configured?
Yes GO to H3. No CONFIGURE the correct axle ratio. - H3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded?
Yes REFER to ENGINE CONTROLS - SYMPTOM CHARTS (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) . No GO to H4. - H4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded?
Yes For DTC U0100:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AR . For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Chart: IPC . No GO to H5. - H5 CARRY OUT THE SPEEDOMETER ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
- Select the IPC speedometer (SPDOMETER) PID. Command the speedometer in 10% increments while monitoring the speedometer. The speed indicated should increase according to the following tables:
Command Indication Range 10% (23 km/h (14 mph)) 23 km/h (14 mph)-24 km/h (15 mph) 20% (45 km/h (28 mph)) 44 km/h (27 mph)-48 km/h (30 mph) 30% (67 km/h (42 mph)) 66 km/h (41 mph)-72 km/h (45 mph) 40% (90 km/h (56 mph)) 87 km/h (54 mph)-97 km/h (60 mph) 50% (113 km/h (70 mph)) 109 km/h (68 mph)-121 km/h (75 mph) 60% (135 km/h (84 mph)) 130 km/h (81 mph)-145 km/h (90 mph) 70% (158 km/h (98 mph)) 153 km/h (95 mph)-169 km/h (105 mph) 80% (180 km/h (112 mph)) 175 km/h (109 mph)-193 km/h (120 mph) 90% (203 km/h (126 mph)) 196 km/h (122 mph)-217 km/h (135 mph) 100% (225 km/h (140 mph)) 219 km/h (136 mph)-241 km/h (150 mph) Late Build Police Only

Does the speed indicated increase within the specified range?
Yes GO to H6. No Refer to IPC Hardware Testing . - H6 CHECK THE PCM VSS PID
- Using a scan tool, view the PCM PIDs.
- Select and monitor the PCM vehicle speed (Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)) PID with the speedometer indicating 32.2 km/h (20 mph), 64.4 km/h (40 mph) and 96.6 km/h (60 mph).
Does the speedometer indicate between 30.6 km/h (19 mph)-33.8 km/h (21 mph), 62.8 km/h (39 mph)-69.2 km/h (43 mph) and 93.3 km/h (58 mph)-103 km/h (64 mph) at the 3 PCM PID values?
Yes GO to H7. No Refer to IPC Hardware Testing . - H7 OBSERVE THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Observe the speedometer with the vehicle at various wheel speeds and stopping frequently.
Does the speedometer begin at 0 km/h (0 mph) and fully return to the 0 km/h (0 mph) position when the wheels are stopped?
Yes The speedometer is operating correctly at this time. No Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
