Pinpoint Test C : The SIRIUS ® Data Services Are Not Available
- C1 DETERMINE IF THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A FACTORY-INSTALLED NAVIGATION SYSTEM
- Make sure the correct VIN was entered on the technician service publication website.
- Hover the mouse cursor over or click on the OASIS tab toward the top LH corner of the screen.
- Select HVBoM (Historical Vehicle Bill of Material).
- Enter the map data Secure Digital (SD) card base part number "19H449" (do not include quotation marks).
- Press Enter on the keyboard or click on "View BoM (Build of Material)".
- If the vehicle is equipped with a factory-installed navigation system, a row will appear indicating "CARD-MEMORY" in the DESCRIPTION column.
- If the vehicle is not equipped with a factory-installed navigation system, a row will not appear and the DESCRIPTION column will be blank.
Does the technician service publication website indicate the vehicle is equipped with a factory-installed navigation system?
Yes GO to C2. No Ford Motor Company does not support the addition of a navigation system to vehicles not equipped with a factory-installed navigation system. - C2 VERIFY AN ACTIVE SUBSCRIPTION
- Access the Subscription Info selection in the touchscreen Travel Link menu.
- Select the "i" icon in the lower center of the screen.
- Select "Travel Link" on the left side of the screen.
- Select "Subscription Info" In the upper right portion of the screen.
- The word "Subscribed" should be listed next to each feature of SIRIUS ® Travel Link:
- Traffic
- Weather
- Fuel Prices
- Movie Times
- Sports
- Weather Map
- Ski Conditions
Does the display indicate the subscription has expired for any of the listed features?
Yes If the subscription has expired for one or more of the listed features, INFORM the customer to contact SIRIUS ® to reactivate the subscription. No For features present and showing subscribed, GO to C3. For vehicles not showing the "i" icon, and the vehicle is equipped with factory-installed Navigation, REPROGRAM the APIM. REFER to Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) Standard Programming . - Access the Subscription Info selection in the touchscreen Travel Link menu.
- C3 VERIFY THE MAP DATA SECURE DIGITAL (SD) CARD IS PRESENT AND NAVIGATION IS OPERATIONAL
- Check for the presence of a map data Secure Digital (SD) card in the media hub Secure Digital (SD) card slot.
- Ignition ON.
- Check the navigation status of the FDIM touchscreen RH upper tab to verify operation of the navigation system.
NOTE: Travel Link functions are only available for vehicles equipped with factory-installed Navigation. The Navigation system is not currently an upgradeable option at the dealership. Ford Motor Company does not support the addition of Navigation on vehicles that were not originally equipped with this feature.Is the map data Secure Digital (SD) card present and fully seated, Navigation operational and map present?
Yes GO to C6. No If the Secure Data (SD) card is missing, INSTALL a new map data Secure Digital (SD) card. TEST the system for normal operation. If Navigation is not listed in the FDIM touchscreen RH upper tab, GO to Pinpoint Test Y . If the map is not present, GO to C4. - C4 VERIFY OPERATION WITH A KNOWN GOOD SECURE DIGITAL (SD) CARD WITH NAVIGATION MAP
- Using a known good Secure Digital (SD) card with map navigation, equivalent to original card, if possible, attempt to use the navigation system.
Does the navigation map operate correctly and is the Secure Digital (SD) fault not present?
Yes GO to C5. No GO to Pinpoint Test T . - C5 VERIFY THE SECURE DIGITAL (SD) CARD CONDITION
- Inspect the Secure Digital (SD) card for damage.
- Damaged Secure Digital (SD) card contact pins
- Damaged, bent or broken Secure Digital (SD) card case
Is any damage present?
Yes INSTALL a new Secure Digital (SD) card. No GO to C6. - Inspect the Secure Digital (SD) card for damage.
- C6 CHECK THE SATELLITE RECEPTION
- Drive the vehicle to an open location that is free from obstacles such as tall buildings or large trees.
- Operate the infotainment system in satellite radio mode.
- Select promotional channel 184.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the ACM PIDs.
- Monitor the satellite strength (SAT_SIG_STR) PID.
- If the PID reads "No Signal" or "Poor", move the vehicle to another area and retest until "Good", "Very Good" or "Excellent" PID values are obtained.
Can a "Good", "Very Good" or "Excellent" PID value be obtained and does the satellite radio system receive promotional channel 184 with normal sound quality?
Yes GO to C7. No GO to Pinpoint Test B . - C7 CHECK THE SIRIUS ® DATA SERVICES FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Operate the infotainment system in SIRIUS ® Data Services mode and observe the infotainment display.
NOTE: SIRIUS ® Data Services may take several minutes to load all of the available features. Refer to the Owner Guide for additional information.Do SIRIUS Data Services operate correctly?
Yes The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was a result of obstructions in the antenna's line of sight. No GO to C8. - C8 VERIFY THE VIN AND ESN ON FILE MATCH THE VIN AND ESN FROM THE VEHICLE
- Retrieve the satellite radio ESN. Refer to Bezel Diagnostics .
- Contact the SIRIUS ® Dealer Support Line (888-465-8528).
- Make sure the VIN and ESN SIRIUS ® has on the customer's file match the VIN and ESN retrieved from the vehicle.
- Follow the actions from Step 4 to obtain "Good", "Very Good" or "Excellent" reception.
- Operate the infotainment system in SIRIUS ® Data Services mode.
- Request SIRIUS ® send the activation signal to the vehicle 2-3 times.
NOTE: It may take up to 30 minutes for the activation signal to be received and satellite radio functions to operate.- Operate the infotainment system in SIRIUS ® Data Services mode and observe the infotainment display.
Do SIRIUS Data Services operate correctly?
Yes The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was a result of the activation signal needing to be resent or the VIN and ESN SIRIUS ® has on file not matching the VIN and ESN from the vehicle. No GO to C9. - C9 CHECK THE ACM DTCs
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the ACM DTCs.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the ACM self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded in the ACM ?
Yes For DTC B1A89:11 or DTC B1A89:13, GO to Pinpoint Test B . For all other ACM DTCs, REFER to Information and Entertainment System - Premium Plus , DTC Chart: ACM. No GO to C10. - C10 CHECK THE APIM DTCs
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the APIM DTCs.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded in the APIM ?
Yes For DTC U1A00:87, GO to C11. For all other APIM DTCs, REFER to Information and Entertainment System - Premium Plus , DTC Chart: APIM. No GO to C15. - C11 CHECK THE SATELLITE DATA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: ACM C240B .
- Disconnect: APIM C2383 .
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit in question. No GO to C12. - C12 CHECK THE SATELLITE DATA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to C13. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - C13 CHECK THE SATELLITE DATA CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
Are the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to C14. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - C14 CHECK THE SATELLITE DATA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to C16. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - C15 CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all ACM connectors.
- Repair:
- Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals)
- Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins)
- Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)
- Reconnect the ACM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new ACM. REFER to Audio Control Module (ACM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. - C16 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all APIM connectors.
- Repair:
- Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals)
- Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins)
- Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)
- Reconnect the APIM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, Refer to APIM HARDWARE TESTING . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
