PINPOINT TEST B : A Single or More Than One Door Lock Is Inoperative
- B1 CHECK THE DOOR LATCH FOR BINDING
- Lock and unlock the inoperative door lock using the door lock rod.
Does the door lock and unlock?
Yes GO to B3. No GO to B2. - B2 CHECK THE LOCK ROD FOR BINDING
- Operate the door lock rod manually while observing the door lock rod for any binding or if the rod is bent.
Is the door lock rod bent or binding?
Yes REPAIR as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation. No INSTALL a new door latch. REFER to Front Door Latch or Rear Door Latch . - B3 CHECK THE ALL LOCK OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Inoperative Door Lock Actuator.
- While pressing the door lock control switch in the LOCK position, monitor the test lamp.
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C525-4 Test Light Ground C609-4 Test Light Ground C705-4 Test Light Ground C805-4 Test Light Ground
Does the test lamp momentarily illuminate?
Yes GO to B4. No REPAIR the circuit for an open. - B4 CHECK THE UNLOCK OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
- While pressing the door lock control switch in the UNLOCK position, monitor the test lamp.
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C525-3 Test Light Ground C609-3 Test Light Ground C705-3 Test Light Ground C805-3 Test Light Ground
Does the test lamp momentarily illuminate?
Yes INSTALL a new door latch. REFER to Front Door Latch or Rear Door Latch . No GO to B5. - While pressing the door lock control switch in the UNLOCK position, monitor the test lamp.
- B5 CHECK THE UNLOCK OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect BCM C2280D.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C525-3 C2280D-21 C609-3 C2280D-3 C705-3 C2280D-3 C805-3 C2280D-3
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to B6. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - B6 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect all the BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion, (install new connectors or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Connect all the BCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
