PINPOINT TEST F : The Alarm System Does Not Activate From An Unauthorized Entry At The Liftgate
- F1 MONITOR THE LIFTGATE AJAR MESSAGE/INDICATOR IN THE IPC
- Ignition ON.
- Open the liftgate while monitoring the IPC.
Does the IPC indicate the liftgate is ajar?
Yes GO to F2. No DIAGNOSE the courtesy lamps always on. REFER to Interior Lighting . - F2 MONITOR THE BCM LIFTGATE ANTI-THEFT INHIBIT SWITCH (KCS_Lgate/Tr) PID
- Using a scan tool, view BCM PIDs.
- Using a scan tool, monitor the BCM KCS_Lgate/Tr PID.
Does the PID indicate the switch is Inactive?
Yes The system is operating correctly. VERIFY the BCM has the perimeter alarm configured and perimeter alarm correctly arms. No GO to F3. - F3 ISOLATE THE LIFTGATE ANTI-THEFT INHIBIT SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Liftgate Anti-Theft Inhibit Switch
- Using a scan tool, monitor the BCM KCS_Lgate/Tr PID.
Does the PID indicate the switch is Inactive?
Yes INSTALL a new liftgate lock cylinder. REFER to REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems - Without Intelligent Access (IA) . No GO to F4. - F4 CHECK THE LIFTGATE ANTI-THEFT INHIBIT SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280C.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4813-1 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to F5. No REPAIR the circuit. - F5 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
