PINPOINT TEST M : All The Stoplamps Are Inoperative
- M1 CHECK THE STOPLAMP SWITCH VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Stoplamp Switch.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C278-1 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to M2. No VERIFY the BJB fuse 59 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. - M2 BYPASS THE STOPLAMP SWITCH
Do the stoplamps illuminate?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new stoplamp switch. Refer to Stoplamp Switch . No LEAVE the jumper wire connected. GO to M3. - M3 CHECK THE STOPLAMP SWITCH INPUT CIRUCIT TO THE BCM FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: BCM C2280B.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280B-28 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. VERIFY the BCM fuse 15 (15A) is OK. If OK, GO to M4. If not OK, REFER to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. No REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit. - M4 BYPASS THE BCM
- Disconnect: BCM C2280D.
- Connect a fused jumper wire:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280D-14 Positive Battery Terminal
Do the stoplamps illuminate?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to M5. No REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the BCM stoplamp output circuit for an open. - M5 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - Without Intelligent Access or REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - With Intelligent Access . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
NOTE:
If the fuse in the jumper wire fails, refer to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION
to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.
