PINPOINT TEST N : One Or More Stoplamps Are Inoperative
- N1 DETERMINE THE INOPERATIVE STOPLAMP
- Ignition OFF.
- Apply the brake pedal and observe the stoplamps.
Are all the stoplamps inoperative?
Yes GO to Pinpoint Test M . No For the high mounted stoplamp, GO to N2. For a rear stoplamp, GO to N4. - N2 CHECK THE HIGH MOUNTED STOPLAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: High Mounted Stoplamp.
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C475-1 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to N3. No REPAIR the circuit. - N3 CHECK THE HIGH MOUNTED STOPLAMP GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C475-1 C475-2
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes INSTALL a new high mounted stoplamp. Refer to High Mounted Stoplamp . No REPAIR the circuit. - While applying the brake pedal, measure:
- N4 CHECK THE REAR LAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Inoperative Rear Lamp.
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead Rear Lamp-Left C414-5 Ground Rear Lamp-Right C417-5 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to N5. No REPAIR the circuit. - N5 CHECK THE REAR LAMP ASSEMBLY GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead Rear Lamp-Left C414-5 Rear Lamp-Left C414-1 Rear Lamp-Right C417-5 Rear Lamp-Right C417-1
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to N6. No REPAIR the circuit. - While applying the brake pedal, measure:
- N6 CHECK THE REAR LAMP ASSEMBLY JUMPER HARNESS
- Inspect the rear lamp jumper harness for an open.
Is the rear lamp jumper harness OK?
Yes INSTALL a new rear lamp assembly. Refer to Rear Lamp Assembly . No REPAIR or INSTALL a new rear lamp jumper harness.
