PINPOINT TEST V : Both Front Fog Lamps Are Inoperative
- V1 CHECK THE FOG LAMP SWITCH PID
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, view FLM PIDs.
- Using a scan tool, monitor the FLM FOG_F_SW PID while pressing and releasing the fog lamp switch.
Does the PID indicate the fog lamp switch is active when pressed and inactive when released?
Yes VERIFY the BCM fuse 47 (15A) is OK. If OK, GO to V2. If not OK, REFER to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. No INSTALL a new FLM. Refer to Front Lighting Control Module (FLM) . - V2 BYPASS THE BCM
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280E.
- Connect a fused jumper wire:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280E-5 Positive Battery Terminal
Do the fog lamps illuminate?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to V3. No REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the BCM fog lamp output circuit for an open. - V3 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - Without Intelligent Access or REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - With Intelligent Access . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
NOTE:
If the fuse in the jumper wire fails, refer to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION
to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.
