Pinpoint Test I : The RF Tweeter Speaker Is Inoperative Or Has Poor Sound Quality

  1. I1 CHECK THE RF DOOR SPEAKER

    • Ignition ON.
    • Operate the audio system in radio tuner AM/FM mode.

    Does the RF door speaker operate correctly? 

    Yes  GO to  I2.
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test H .

  2. I2 CHECK THE AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE RF TWEETER SPEAKER

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: RF Tweeter Speaker C613B .
    • Operate the audio system in radio tuner AM/FM mode.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is a fluctuating AC voltage present? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new RF tweeter speaker. Refer to Speaker - Tweeter .
    No  GO to  I3.

  3. I3 CHECK THE AUDIO CIRCUITS TO THE RF TWEETER SPEAKER FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: RF Door Speaker C612B .
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

      		 Ground

    Is any voltage present? 

    Yes  REPAIR the circuit in question.
    No  GO to  I4.

  4. I4 CHECK THE AUDIO CIRCUITS TO THE RF TWEETER SPEAKER FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  I5.
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.

  5. I5 CHECK THE AUDIO CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  I6.
    No  REPAIR the circuits.

  6. I6 CHECK THE AUDIO CIRCUITS TO THE RF TWEETER SPEAKER FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new RF door speaker. Refer to Speaker - Door .
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.
