- S1 CHECK THE AUDIBLE PROMPT SETTING
- Operate the audio system in SYNC ® mode.
- Verify the audible prompts are enabled. Refer to "SYNC ® Voice Recognition Feature" in the Owner's Literature.
- Press the VOICE steering wheel switch and observe the SYNC ® audible prompt.
Does the SYNC ® system produce an audible prompt correctly?
Yes The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was caused by a customer setting. INSTRUCT the customer in the correct operation of the audible prompt feature. No GO to S2. - S2 CHECK FOR A VOLTAGE SIGNAL FROM THE APIM
- Operate the audio system in SYNC ® mode.
- While pressing the VOICE steering wheel switch repeatedly, measure the Alternating Current (AC) voltage by back-probing:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C3154A-5 C3154A-15
Is an AC voltage produced each time the VOICE switch is pressed?
Yes GO to S7. No GO to S3. - S3 CHECK THE AUDIBLE PROMPT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Audio DSP Module C3154A .
- Disconnect: APIM C2383 .
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit in question. No GO to S4. - S4 CHECK THE AUDIBLE PROMPT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to S5. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - S5 CHECK THE AUDIBLE PROMPT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to S6. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - S6 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the APIM connector.
- Repair:
- Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals)
- Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins)
- Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)
- Reconnect the APIM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Wait 2 minutes for the APIM to re-initialize.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, Refer to APIM HARDWARE TESTING . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. - S7 CHECK FOR CORRECT AUDIO DSP MODULE OPERATION
