Pinpoint Test X : The Audio System Does Not Operate Correctly From The FCIM

  1. X1 CHECK THE FDIM TOUCHSCREEN OPERATION

    • Operate and observe the FDIM touchscreen.

    Is the FDIM touchscreen inoperative or blank? 

    Yes  GO to Pinpoint Test Y .
    No  GO to  X2.
  2. X2 VERIFY THE FCIM PASS THE NETWORK TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the network test.

    Does the FCIM pass the network test? 

    Yes  GO to  X3.
    No  Refer to article 'Module Communications Network', Go to Pinpoint Test Y .
  3. X3 CHECK THE FCIM BUTTON PIDs

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the FCIM PIDs.
    • Monitor the FCIM button PIDs.

    Do the PID states agree with the button presses? 

    Yes  GO to  X5.
    No  If only one PID value is incorrect or the PID value always reads on particular switch position, INSTALL a new FCIM. Refer to Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) . Otherwise, GO to  X4.
  4. X4 RESET THE AUDIO SYSTEM MODULES AND RECHECK THE SYSTEM OPERATION

    • Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then reconnect it.
    • Turn the infotainment system on.
    • While pressing the buttons on the FCIM, observe the FCIM operation.

    Does the FCIM operate correctly? 

    Yes  The concern was resolved by resetting the audio system modules. The FCIM is operating correctly at this time.
    No  GO to  X5.
  5. X5 CHECK FOR CORRECT FCIM OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect and inspect the FCIM connector.
    • Repair:
      • Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals)
      • Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins)
      • Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)
    • Reconnect the FCIM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new FCIM. Refer to Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
