PINPOINT TEST J : All The Courtesy Lamps Stay On Continuously
- J1 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH PIDs
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, view BCM PIDs.
- Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_DRVR, DOOR_SW_PSGR, DOOR_SW_LR, DOOR_SW_RR PIDs while opening and closing all the doors.
Do all the door ajar switch PID values agree with the door positions?
Yes GO to J5. No GO to J2. - J2 BYPASS THE SUSPECT DOOR LATCH
- Disconnect: Suspect Door Latch.
- Connect:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead Suspect Door Ajar Switch, LF C525-5 Suspect Door Ajar Switch, LF C525-6 Suspect Door Ajar Switch, RF C609-5 Suspect Door Ajar Switch, RF C609-6 Suspect Door Ajar Switch, LR C705-5 Suspect Door Ajar Switch, LR C705-6 Suspect Door Ajar Switch, RR C805-5 Suspect Door Ajar Switch, RR C805-6
- Using a scan tool, view BCM PIDs.
- Monitor the suspect BCM DOOR_SW_DRVR, DOOR_SW_PSGR, DOOR_SW_LR, DOOR_SW_RR PID.
Does the PID indicate the door is closed?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new door latch for the latch in question. REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems Without Intelligent Access (IA) - Front Door Latch or REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems Without Intelligent Access (IA) - Rear Door Latch. . No REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to J3. - J3 BYPASS THE DOOR LATCH GROUND CIRCUIT
- Connect:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead Suspect Door Ajar Switch, LF C525-5 Ground Suspect Door Ajar Switch, RF C609-5 Ground Suspect Door Ajar Switch, LR C705-5 Ground Suspect Door Ajar Switch, RR C805--5 Ground
- Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_DRVR, DOOR_SW_PSGR, DOOR_SW_LR, DOOR_SW_RR PID.
Does the PID indicate the door is closed?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR door latch ground circuit in question for an open. No REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to J4. - Connect:
- J4 CHECK THE SUSPECT DOOR AJAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: BCM C2280C.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead Suspect Door Ajar Switch-Left front C525-5 C2280C-9 Suspect Door Ajar Switch-Right front C609-5 C2280C-5 Suspect Door Ajar Switch-Left rear C705-5 C2280C-20 Suspect Door Ajar Switch-Right rear C805-5 C2280C-21
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to J12. No REPAIR the door ajar input circuit in question. - J5 CHECK THE LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH PID
- Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_LUGG PID while opening and closing the liftgate.
Does the liftgate switch PID value agree with the liftgate positions?
Yes If the interior courtesy lamps are illuminated, GO to Pinpoint Test K . If the puddle lamps are illuminated, GO to Pinpoint Test L . No For manual liftgate, GO to J6. For power liftgate, GO to J8. - J6 BYPASS THE LIFTGATE LATCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Liftgate Latch.
- Ignition ON.
- Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_LUGG PID.
Does the PID indicate the liftgate is closed?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new liftgate latch. REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems With Intelligent Access (IA) - Liftgate Latch - Manual or REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems With Intelligent Access (IA) - Liftgate Latch - Power. . No REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to J7. - J7 CHECK THE LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Connect:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C457-4 Ground
- Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_LUGG PID.
Does the PID indicate the liftgate is closed?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit. No LEAVE the jumper wire connected. GO to J10. - Connect:
- J8 CHECK FOR LTM DTCs FROM THE SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform LTM self-test.
Are any DTCs other than DTC B2718 or DTC B2721 present?
Yes REFER to Body Closures . No GO to J9. - J9 BYPASS THE LTM
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LTM C4174B.
- Ignition ON.
- Connect:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4174B-15 Ground
- Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_LUGG PID.
Does the PID indicate the liftgate is closed?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to J11. No LEAVE the jumper wire connected. GO to J10. - J10 CHECK THE LIFTGATE AJAR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280C.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280C-19 Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to J12. No REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit. - J11 CHECK FOR CORRECT LTM OPERATION
- Disconnect the LTM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the LTM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new LTM. REFER to Body Closures . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. CLEAR the DTCs. - J12 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Disconnect the BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - Without Intelligent Access or REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - With Intelligent Access . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. CLEAR the DTCs.
NOTE:
If the jumper wire fails, refer to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION
to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.
