PINPOINT TEST F : The Power Folding Mirrors Do Not Operate Correctly
- F1 CHECK FOR DTCs FROM THE DSM
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform DSM self-test.
Are any DTCs retrieved?
Yes If DTC B112B is present, GO to F4. For all other DSM DTCs, REFER to Seating 1st Row . No GO to F2. - F2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE POWER FOLDING MIRRORS
- Position the exterior mirror control switch to the center position.
- Press the exterior mirror control switch rearward towards the FOLD/UNFOLD position to activate the power folding mirrors.
Does either the LH or RH power folding mirror operate?
Yes GO to F10. No GO to F3. - F3 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: DSM C341C.
- Ignition ON.
- While pressing and releasing the power folding mirror button, monitor:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C341C-21 Test Light Ground
Did the test light illuminate when the button is pressed and not illuminate when the button is released?
Yes GO to F7. No If the test light was always illuminated, GO to F4. If the test light was never illuminated, GO to F5. - F4 CHECK THE FOLDING MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: DSM C341C.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C341C-21 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes GO to F12. No GO to F13. - F5 CHECK THE FOLDING MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C341C-21 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to F6. No REPAIR the circuit. SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . - F6 CHECK THE FOLDING MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch (integral to the master window control switch). REFER to Glass, Frames and Mechanisms . SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . No REPAIR the circuit. SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . - F7 CHECK THE FOLDING MIRROR OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH and RH Exterior Mirror.
- Ignition ON.
Are any voltages present?
Yes REPAIR the affected circuit(s). SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . No GO to F8. - F8 CHECK THE FOLDING MIRROR OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to F9. No REPAIR the affected circuit(s). SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . - F9 CHECK THE FOLDING MIRROR OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- For incorrectly folding LH mirror, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C341C-1 C516-16 C341C-2 C516-14
- For incorrectly folding RH mirror, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C341C-1 C601A-16 C341C-2 C601A-14
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to F13. No REPAIR the affected circuit(s). SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . - For incorrectly folding LH mirror, measure:
- F10 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Incorrectly folding RH or LH Exterior Mirror.
- Ignition ON.
- For incorrectly folding LH mirror, while pressing and releasing the power folding mirror button, monitor:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C516-14 Test Light C516-16
- For incorrectly folding RH mirror, while pressing and releasing the power folding mirror button, monitor:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C601A-14 Test Light C601A-16
Did the test light illuminate when the button is pressed?
Yes CHECK the exterior mirror jumper harness between the vehicle harness and the exterior mirror glass for open circuits and damaged or pushed-out pins. If the jumper harness is not OK, REPAIR the jumper harness. If the jumper harness cannot be repaired, INSTALL a new exterior mirror. Refer to Exterior Mirror . SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . No GO to F11. - F11 CHECK THE POWER FOLD EXTERIOR MIRROR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: DSM C341C.
- For incorrectly folding LH mirror, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C341C-1 C516-16 C341C-2 C516-14
- For incorrectly folding RH mirror, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C341C-1 C601A-16 C341C-2 C601A-14
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to F13. No REPAIR the affected circuit(s). SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . - F12 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C341C-21 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . No INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch (integral to the master window control switch). REFER to Glass, Frames and Mechanisms . SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. Refer to Motor Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding . - F13 CHECK THE DSM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all DSM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the DSM connectors and all previously disconnected exterior system connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new DSM. REFER to Seating 1st Row . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
