Pinpoint Test M : U0140:87
- M1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes GO to M2. No The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to heavy network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - M2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Using a scan tool, perform a network test
Does the BCM pass the network test?
Yes GO to M3. No REFER to REFER to Module Communications Network . - M3 RETRIEVE THE DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any non-network DTCs recorded?
Yes REFER to REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules . No GO to M4. - M4 RECHECK THE IPM-A DTCs
- Clear the DTCs from the IPM-A.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Check the IPM-A DTCs.
Is DTC U0140:87 recorded?
Yes GO to M5. No The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to heavy network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - M5 CHECK FOR DTC U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Clear all DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 15 seconds.
- Retrieve the CMDTCs from all modules.
Is DTC U0140:00 set in the ABS module or the RCM ?
Yes INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - Without Intelligent Access or REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - With Intelligent Access . No INSTALL a new interior auto-dimming mirror. Refer to Interior Rear View Mirror .
