PINPOINT TEST W : The Charging System Message Center Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On
- W1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any charging system DTCs recorded?
Yes REFER to Electronic Engine Controls . No GO to W2. - W2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any charging system DTCs recorded?
Yes REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules . No GO to W3. - W3 CHECK THE CHARGING SYSTEM OPERATION
- Check the charging system operation.
Does the charging system operate correctly?
Yes GO to W4. No REFER to Charging System . - W4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U0140:00 recorded?
Yes GO to Pinpoint Test AV . No GO to W5. - W5 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATOR FUNCTION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM C175B (3.5L and 3.7L Ti-VCT).
- Disconnect: PCM C1381B (2.0L GTDI).
- Disconnect: PCM C175B (3.5L GTDI).
- Ignition ON.
- Observe the message center or integrated display area of the IPC with the PCM connected and disconnected.
NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the message center to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning indicator is active.Do the powertrain malfunction (wrench) and engine over-temperature warning message center indicators remain off when the PCM is connected and become active with the PCM disconnected?
Yes If the charging system message center warning indicator is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time. If the charging system message center warning indicator is always on, DIAGNOSE BCM DTC U1007:31. REFER to Charging System . If the condition is still present after diagnosing BCM DTC U1007:31, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to Electronic Engine Controls . No Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
