PINPOINT TEST AB : The Low Washer Fluid Level Message Center Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On
- AB1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATOR FUNCTION
- Close all doors, hood and liftgate.
- Ignition ON.
- Open the driver door while monitoring the door ajar message center warning indicator.
NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the message center to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning indicator is active.Does the driver door ajar message center warning indicator turn off with the driver door closed and illuminate with the driver door open?
Yes If the WASHER FLUID LEVEL LOW message is never on, GO to AB2. If the WASHER FLUID LEVEL LOW message is always on, GO to AB5. No Refer to IPC Hardware Testing . - AB2 CHECK THE LOW WASHER FLUID INDICATOR OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Washer Fluid Level Switch.
- Connect a fused jumper wire:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C138-1 Ground
- Ignition ON.
- Wait one minute.
- Observe the low washer fluid message center indicator.
Is the low washer fluid message center indicator on?
Yes REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to AB3. No REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to AB4. - AB3 CHECK THE WASHER FLUID LEVEL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Is the voltage approximately 5 volts or greater?
Yes INSTALL a new washer fluid level switch or reservoir as necessary. No REPAIR the circuit. - AB4 CHECK THE WASHER FLUID LEVEL INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: IPC.
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to AB7. No REPAIR the circuit. - AB5 CHECK THE WASHER FLUID SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Washer Fluid Level Switch.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait one minute.
- Observe the low washer fluid message center indicator.
Did the low washer fluid message center indicator turn off?
Yes INSTALL a new washer fluid level switch or reservoir as necessary. No GO to AB6. - AB6 CHECK THE WASHER FLUID INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: IPC.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C220-8 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to AB7. No REPAIR the circuit. - AB7 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPC OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect the IPC connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the IPC connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, Refer to IPC Hardware Testing . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
