Glass Reseal - Windshield

General Procedure 

  1. 1.

    Remove the cowl panel grille. REFER to Front End Body Panels .

  1. 2.

    Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. REFER to Interior Trim and Ornamentation .

  1. 3.

    Remove the LH and RH sun visors and clips.

  1. 4.

    If equipped, remove the overhead console. REFER to Instrument Panel and Console .

  1. 5.

    Lower the front portion of the headliner and block with a suitable material.

  1. 6.

    Clean the interior and exterior of the windshield glass surface with glass cleaner.

  1. 7.

    Cut the urethane adhesive applicator tip to specification.

    NOTE: Make sure that all gaps in the urethane adhesive are smoothed into one continuous bead.
    NOTE: Use either a high-ratio, air, electric or battery-operated caulk gun that will apply the urethane adhesive with less effort and a continuous bead.

  1. 8.
    Apply urethane adhesive over top of the existing urethane adhesive.
    • Apply the urethane adhesive to the top and sides of the windshield from the interior of the vehicle.
    • Apply the urethane adhesive to the bottom of the windshield from the exterior of the vehicle.
    NOTE: The urethane adhesive must cure for a minimum of one hour before testing for air or water leaks.

  1. 9.
    After the urethane adhesive has cured, check the windshield seal for air or water leaks through the urethane adhesive bead and add urethane adhesive as necessary.

  1. 10.

    Position the front portion of the headliner.

  1. 11.

    If equipped, install the overhead console. REFER to Instrument Panel and Console

  1. 12.

    Install the LH and RH sun visors and clips.

  1. 13.

    Install the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. REFER to Interior Trim and Ornamentation

  1. 14.

    Install the cowl panel grille. REFER to Front End Body Panels

  1. 15.

    Clean the interior and exterior windshield glass with glass cleaner.
