PINPOINT TEST E : The Engine Does Not Start or Unable To Turn Ignition On

NOTE: The Intelligent Access (IA) feature is a programmable parameter and can be enabled/disabled with a scan tool. If the feature is disabled, the Intelligent Access (IA) feature to enter the vehicle and passive starting will be inoperative. To start the vehicle, the Intelligent Access (IA) key has to be placed in the backup slot.

  1. E1 CHECK FOR ANY MESSAGES IN THE MESSAGE CENTER

    • Check the message center while pressing the start/stop switch.

    Is NO KEY DETECTED displayed in the message center? 

    Yes  GO to Pinpoint Test F .
    No  GO to  E2.
  2. E2 CHECK THE IPC OPERATION

    • Observe the IPC operation while pressing the start/stop switch.

    Do some of the indicators in the IPC illuminate? 

    Yes  GO to  E3.
    No  GO to  E4.
  3. E3 CHECK FOR RFA MODULE AND BCM DTCs

    • Using a scan tool, perform the RFA module and BCM self-test.

    Are any RFA module or BCM DTCs present? 

    Yes  REFER to the Related Module DTC Charts .
    No  The no-crank condition is not PATS -related. REFER to Starting System .
  4. E4 CHECK FOR COMMUNICATION WITH THE SCAN TOOL

    Does the scan tool establish communication with the BCM and the RFA module? 

    Yes  DIAGNOSE no power in ON. REFER to Steering Column Switches .
    No  REFER to Module Communications Network .
