PINPOINT TEST G : The Heated Seat is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Correctly - LH

  1. G1 CHECK THE REAR HEATED SEAT SWITCH OUTPUT

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Heated Seat Module C3304A .
    • While pressing and releasing the LH rear heated seat switch, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms when the heated seat switch is pressed and greater than 10, 000 ohms when the heated seat switch is released? 

    Yes  GO to  G3.
    No  GO to  G2.
  2. G2 CHECK THE HEATED SEAT SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND

    • Disconnect: Auxiliary Climate Control Assembly C3198A .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms between the heated seat module and the auxiliary climate control assembly and greater than 10, 000 ohms between the heated seat module and ground? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new auxiliary climate control assembly. REFER to Auxiliary Climate Control .
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  3. G3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE HEATED SEAT MODULE

    • Disconnect: Heated Seat Module C3304B .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  G4.
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  4. G4 CHECK THE HEATER MATS RESISTANCE AND HEATER CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is the resistance between 3 and 5 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G9.
    No  GO to  G5.
  5. G5 CHECK THE HEATER MATS GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Left Rear Cushion Heater Mat C3167 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G6.
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  6. G6 CHECK THE HEATER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND

    • Disconnect: Left Rear Backrest Heater Mat C3168 .
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms between the heated seat module and backrest heater mat, and greater than 10, 000 ohms between heated seat module and ground? 

    Yes  GO to  G7.
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  7. G7 CHECK BACKREST HEATER MAT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure the component side  resistance:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C3168, pin 1, component side

    Is the resistance between 0.7 and 1.5 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G8.
    No  INSTALL a new backrest heater mat.
  8. G8 CHECK THE CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE CUSHION AND BACKREST HEATER MATS FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms between the backrest heater mat and the cushion heater mat, and greater than 10, 000 ohms between backrest heater mat and ground? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new cushion heater mat.
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  9. G9 CHECK THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is any voltage present? 

    Yes  REPAIR the circuit.
    No  GO to  G10.
  10. G10 CHECK THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G11.
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  11. G11 CHECK THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance between 300 ohms and 300, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new heated seat module. REFER to Heated Seat Module .
    No  GO to  G12.
  12. G12 CHECK THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Left Rear Seat Backrest C3168 .
    • Measure the component side  resistance:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C3168, pin 2, component side

    Is the resistance between 300 ohms and 300, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G13.
    No  INSTALL a new rear seat backrest heater mat.
  13. G13 CHECK THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  REPAIR circuit CHS56 (YE/VT) for an open.
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
