Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
- Try to operate the Driver Window up and down several times.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- With the scan tool, read DDM DTCs.
IS the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE WINDOW MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Driver Window Motor harness connector.
- Connect a 12-volt test light between the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit and the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit at the Driver Window Motor harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Trip the driver door latch to the closed position.
- Operate the driver window switch up and down several times while observing the test light.NOTE:
The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the switch is pressed in both directions?
NOTE:With the express up window feature, the test light will only flash momentarily each time the switch is activated.
Yes
- Replace the Driver Window Motor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MOTOR, WINDOW REGULATOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (Q21) DRIVER WINDOW EXPRESS DOWN DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Driver Door Module C4 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (Q21) Driver Window Down Driver circuit between the Driver Door Module C4 connector and the Driver Window Motor harness connector at the Driver Door Module C4 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the (Q21) Driver Window Down Driver circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (Q11) DRIVER WINDOW DRIVER UP CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance of the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit between the Driver Door Module C4 harness connector and the Driver Window Motor harness connector at the Driver Door Module C4 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance of the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit between the Driver Door Module C4 harness connector and the Driver Window Motor harness connector at the Driver Door Module C4 harness connector.
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all Driver Door Module harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all Driver Door Module harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Vehicle Scan Report, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DDM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Driver Door Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, DOOR (DDM/PDM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
