Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
- Block the Light Sensor in the Interior Rearview Mirror.
- Shift the transmission to Drive (engine not running).
- Wait two minutes.
- With the scan tool, read PDM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE (P137) PASSENGER AUTO DAY/NIGHT MIRROR SIGNAL CIRCUIT AND THE (P138) PASSENGER AUTO DAY/NIGHT MIRROR RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Passenger Outside Rearview Mirror (C1) harness connector.
- Measure the resistance between the (P137) Passenger Auto Day/Night Mirror Signal circuit and (P138) Passenger Auto Day/Night Mirror Return circuit at the Passenger Outside Rearview Mirror (C1) harness connector.NOTE:
The resistance should clock up from approximately 25.0 Ohms to approximately 60.0 Ohms in about 10 seconds.
Did the resistance clock up and stay under 100.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (P137) Passenger Auto Day/Night Mirror Signal / (P138) Passenger Auto Day/Night Mirror Return circuit(s) for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE MIRROR FUNCTION
- Replace the outside Passenger Door Rearview Mirror in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
- Block the Light Sensor in the Interior Rearview Mirror.
- Shift the transmission to Drive (engine not running).
- Wait two minutes.
- With the scan tool, read PDM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all Passenger Door Module harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all Passenger Door Module harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Vehicle Scan Report, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read PDM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Passenger Door Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, DOOR (DDM/PDM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
